About Kerry Allan-Zinner

I am proud to have built a successful consulting and training business providing a variety of niche' market services in the promotion, consultation and training of disability issues and community awareness. Another Angle Consulting and Training provides services to the private and public sectors, to clients and customers complying with access and inclusion regulations and those who simply value disability awareness, access and inclusion knowledge. Auditing and Evaluation roles allow me the privilege of ensuring rights and responsibilities of all people are upheld. Another Angle Consulting & Training began through adversity and thrives on my passion for creating accepting and welcoming communities for people with disabilities, whilst demonstrating self empowerment and influence to others living with disabilities. I enjoy the high profile of being a strong advocate for people with disabilities across Western Australia.

The smartest business strategy that I have developed is to diversify! My business shifts and changes with the tide, with political climates and with the seasons. I started out "giving talks" and being a "guest speaker", then decided to develop the passions that fuel the fire inside into a part time business venture. By 2002 I had successfully tendered and won my first formal state government contract competing in an open market - what a thrill. In 2011 Another Angle Consulting and Training continues to grow and so do I. Its success, my success is not built on academia or wealth. My business is built on passion, persistence, patience, a will to succeed, my willingness to keep learning and stretching. "I do what I do because I can. I do what I do because it lessens the annoyance of other things that I would like to do".

Some people still describe my work as "giving talks and stuff", when I am indeed a business woman in its truest sense.

My work as a Disability Awareness and Communications Consultant and Trainer includes formal contracts as an Independent Evaluator and Consumer Technical Expert Auditor.

I frequently hold positions on interview panels and act as an informant on various working parties within the disability industry, women’s interest groups and the private sector.

I give freely of my time and energy in community service roles including an International Lions Club member. In my capacity as the Lions Club of Forrestfield/High Wycombe’s Disability Projects officer, I along with a small committee, organize and facilitate an annual week long camp for families living with disability in the April school holidays.

I have been appointed as an Ambassador for Western Australia's "Count Me In" Initiative.

My passion for creating accepting communities is not surpassed by my passion to motivate and inspire people with disabilities to embrace their extraordinary lives, rather than spending a life time striving to be ordinary.

This outlook and its theories offer many opportunities as key note speaker or guest speaker and trainer in and around Perth and regional Western Australia. A multi dimensional view of disability, its challenges and barriers stems from having been born with Cerebral Palsy, being educated in a segregated environment,  justifying self worth to education, employment and legal systems, being a parent of three children, and a step parent.

Each area of work that I undertake offers opportunities to pursue the rights, protection and dignity of all people with disabilities.

As a survivor of family & domestic violence I advocate strongly against abusive and anti social behaviours.

I am proud to have been a participant of Leadership WA 2009,a past Chairperson of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability in WA and a former Chairperson of the Centre for Cerebral Palsy of Western Australia.

In 2003 I was honoured to be awarded a Prime Ministers Centenary Medal, “For service to the community through the Cerebral Palsy Association of WA”, as well as being announced winner of the Individual Category in the “Accessible Communities Awards” in December 2003 – a State Government initiative.

Through my teachings I challenge many traditional opinions and social values that communities have with regard to people with disabilities and prove the notion that people can be “Successfully Disabled”, and moreover that being respected and acknowledged as a “Woman, Man or Child” is far more important and gracious than being known by a clinical definition.
